Silvia D’Amico


Silvia is a dual qualified English solicitor and Italian lawyer with extensive experience in complex civil and commercial cross-border disputes.

Silvia specialises in a wide range of complex civil and commercial litigation matters, including contractual disputes, company law matters, civil fraud claims, and enforcement of foreign judgments in England. Having experience of the Italian and English legal systems, she is able to advise clients and work on documents in both languages.

Before joining Gresham Legal in 2022, Silvia spent 6 years practising at Pini Franco LLP.

Silvia’s representative experience includes:

  • Acting on behalf of a claimant on a £10m complex civil fraud claim against an Italian individual resident in England, who was under arrest in Italy for a significant fraud affecting several victims worldwide for a value of over £1bn.

  • Currently acting in an unfair prejudice petition involving ownership rights in a Swiss private client advisory business, which overlaps with related high court proceedings and multiple foreign proceedings.

  • Acting on behalf of a Swiss trust fund on a €9m complex civil fraud claim involving allegations of conspiracy and fraudulent misrepresentation.

  • Acting on behalf of a company incorporated in the United Arab Emirates seeking to recover damages from an Italian company arising under a breach of an agency agreement governed by English law.

  • Successfully represented an Italian creditor seeking to enforce a €2.7m foreign judgment against the debtor’s shares held by an English company while the judgment was still under appeal before the Italian Supreme Court of Cassation - Zauli v Lughi [2020] Lexis Citation 282.

  • Acting for an English company on a complex contractual dispute against a Portuguese company arising under a breach of a €1.2m loan agreement governed by English law - I.O. Trading Ltd v Favorite Border LDA [2021] 10 WLUK 420.

  • Acting for an Italian company in a commercial dispute seeking to recover a debt from an English company and to obtain a declaration that VAT was not chargeable on specific products manufactured in Italy and distributed in the UK by the claimant’s subsidiary English company.
