Joe has acted for both claimants and defendants which include multinational companies, financial services companies and high net worth individuals in a range of high-value matters.

Joe has experience conducting litigation and making applications in various tiers of the English Court, including the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. Joe also has experience with interim applications, including the obtaining of freezing orders.

Prior to joining Gresham Legal, Joe trained at a global US law firm where he acted in financings both for the lender and borrower, large M&A transactions and capital markets listings, real estate financings and transactions, and in high-value and complex international commercial litigation and arbitration.

Joe studied law at the University of Southampton, before completing his Legal Practice Court at BPP Law School attaining a distinction.

Josef’s representative experience includes:

  • Acting for the Defendant in a series of proceedings, including a fraud claim for circa £1.3Bn. This matter has secured leading judgments in the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court regarding living expenses permitted under a worldwide freezing order and the “immovables rule”.

  • Acting for the Defendant in a fraudulent trading claim heard in the UK Supreme Court.

  • Acting for a HNW Claimant in a multi-million pound breach of contract claim and crypto-currency related disputes, including successful obtaining a freezing order.

  • Acting for a European Claimant company operating across the European activities sector, including in an application to contest jurisdiction.

  • Acting for a Central American company regarding its equity investment into a defendant company.

  • Acting for a Claimant company in an LCIA arbitration relating to the loan of digital assets and the use of digital assets as collateral.

  • Acting for a European company in making a successful winding-up petition against an English company resulting from unpaid debts.

  • Acting for an English company responding to a winding-up petition on just and equitable grounds.
