Alex’s practice covers a wide range of international commercial disputes, with a focus on international and investor-state arbitration.

Alex has experience in a wide range of disputes, including contractual disputes, fraud claims, and insolvency. He specialises in international and investor-state arbitration, having studied arbitration in depth at university and worked on a particularly difficult investment arbitration during his training contract.

Alex is also a solicitor-advocate with rights of audience before all the English courts.

Prior to joining Gresham, Alex trained at a leading international firm.

Alex’s representative experience includes:

  • Representing a Ukrainian gas company in a challenge to a Ukrainian-seated arbitral award and related enforcement proceedings.

  • Representing Polish investors in a civil fraud claim. Representing a private individual in claims for privacy and defamation.

  • Representing Luxembourg and Lichtenstein entities in claims for unlawful means conspiracy.

  • Assisting with domestic enforcement proceedings arising out of a significant and well-known fraud.

  • Representing a fine art logistics company in relation to a development dispute including claims of negligence, breach of contract, and judicial review.

  • Representing a global telecoms company in relation to a tax investment treaty arbitration in a CIS state.

  • Representing an energy company in an ICC arbitration.

  • Supipat v Narongdej & ors: representing directors in relation to claims for fraud and conspiracy arising from Thai energy projects.

  • Coventry v EEA Fund Management: representing directors and the London branch of a fund in relation to litigation in the Southern District of New York.

  • Telefónica v Dixons CarPhone Warehouse: representing the claimant in relation to a contractual litigation over franchise agreements.
